How to password protect any USB stick

Let’s say you’re at the office and you leave work but forget to unplug your USB from the computer. Disaster! That USB contains your bank details and passwords for everything you use. If someone found that memory stick they could instantly ruin your entire life!

That’s where ‘Kakasoft USB Security’ comes in. ‘USB Security’ locks your USB to keep prying eyes away. You and only you know the password to unlock it and access your files.

This tutorial will be showing you all the steps you need to lock your memory stick:

Step 1: Go to www.kakasoft.com/usb-security

Step 2: Click the blue ‘Download’ button.

Step 3: The download should look like this. Go ahead an open it.

Step 4: Accept the terms and conditions and begin the installation.

Step 5: You will be asked to put in a password. This will be the one that locks your USB.

Step 6: Click ‘Protect’ and let the software work its magic. (Note: It would probably be a good idea to make a backup of your memory stick, just in case something goes wrong.)

Step 7: When you view your memory stick in Windows Explorer, it should look just like this.

Step 8: Finally, test that it works! When you unlock it you will be able to view the files in one of two ways:
A virtual drive, or the real thing.
I myself prefer to use the virtual drive because I don’t have to remember to lock it once I’ve finished using my USB, but that’s down to personal preference.

An there you have it! One secure memory stick to take with you wherever you go!
